Robbers cut throat of Northenden man

May 6 2011
A man was left with his throat cut after he was attacked in his own home in Northenden.

At about 3.20pm on Monday 2 May 2011, three men walked into a house on Greenpark Road through an unlocked door and threatened a 33-year-old man, demanding cash.

The men then attacked the victim before taking him outside where they continued the assault. He was attacked with a knife and suffered a cut throat and chin.

One offender is described as being of mixed race, between 28 and 3-0 years old of medium to large build and was wearing a baseball cap. Two others were black. One was about 30-years-old, 6ft tall, of large build with short, black hair and the other is 5ft 8in tall of big build and had a pit bull dog.

Detective Constable Melanie King, of West Didsbury CID, said: "This was a violent, unprovoked and completely random assault on a man who was well outnumbered.

"The wound to the victim's neck is particularly nasty and he is fortunate not to be even more seriously injured.

"I want to reassure the public we are doing all we can to catch the men and if you think you can help i want to hear from you.

"Did you see the assault or the men leave the area afterwards? Perhaps you know who is responsible. If so call us in confidence as soon as possible."

Anyone with information is asked to call West Didsbury CID on 0161 856 6153, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
