Rooney's treat for Wythenshawe youngsters

April 17 2011
Six youngsters from two Wythenshawe schools were given VIP treatment at yesterday's FA Cup semi-final as guests for United ace, Wayne Rooney.

The United striker, who had to sit out the clash with rival City because of a ban, approached the club's charitable arm and said he wanted to give some kids a real treat.

The three boys and three girls watched the match from a private box at Wembley and will each get an Xbox 360 console, a Fifa 11 game and a Rooney-signed Manchester United strip.

A spokesman for the Foundation said: “We were approached by Wayne, who has a box he was not going to use. He wanted to give the kids a real treat.

“So we asked two schools to put forward some deserving youngsters. The kids are overjoyed.”
