Residents rally to save historic Wythenshawe building hit by fire

Campaigners battling to save historic Newall Green Farm from the bulldozer are still hopeful despite a devastating fire at the weekend. 

It is feared the historic building in Wythenshawe may have to be demolished following the fire on Saturday.

You need to brace yourself if you visit the Opera House in Manchester this week. The Two Worlds of Charlie F is a night of theatre you will never forget.

Conceived by executive producer, Alice Driver, the play was forged from the experiences of war veterans who sustained serious injuries on the battlefield. With a cast consisting of the war veterans whose stories are brought to the stage, the play achieves something quite remarkable.

The production is at the same time, in-your-face and hardhitting, touching, gut-wrenching, shocking and funny.

Review: Brassed Off,  Bolton Octagon. Runs till June 14

Anyone who lived through the miners’ strike of 1984 will remember the bitterness and tragedy of that momentous event in history.

In the thirty years following the strike, there have been few attempts at capturing the subject in dramatic form. Billy Elliot managed it but is mostly remembered as a tale of a young lad who wants to dance.
