South African activists visit Wythenshawe to share ideas about community

Three South African activists will be in Wythenshawe over the weekend to share ideas about building communities.

The activists, from the Alliance of Slum/Shack Dwellers  will be at the United Estates Wythenshawe building from10am until 12pm on Saturday October 25th.

They want to learn about the challenges people are facing in low-income communities, the kinds of organisations people are forming, and their relationships with local government.

They will also want to share lessons from their own approaches and successes. SDI is a network of community-based organisations of the urban poor with a presence in 33 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

They have successfully fought evictions, supported thousands of people to develop small enterprises, and brought improved basic services to their neighbourhoods.
