Donations continue for popular Wythenshawe Town keeper unable to work after serious injury

brunoWythenshawe Town’s goalkeeper, Bruno Miguel da Silva, who was seriously hurt in a Manchester FA Premier Cup match is now out of hospital and continuing his recovery.

Bruno was hurt in the match against Avro FC on September 19 when he sustained a factured skull.

The keeper- a self employed driver – is unable to work while he recovers from the injury and a fund has been set up to support him – now almost half way towards reaching its target. The Just Giving  page was set up by a fellow goalkeeper, and friend of Bruno.

Bruno suffered two skull fractures, one on each side and also fractured his eye socket. He suffered memory loss and had bleeding on the brain which contributed to his extended stay in hospital.

Speaking on the Hallmark Security Football League website, Wythenshawe Town’s Chairman Kenny Hope said: “As a self employed delivery driver, Bruno will be unable to work for some time due to the injuries he has sustained, so everyone wanted to chip in to help him and his family, and hoped the wider football community would do the same.

“After a difficult couple of weeks, Bruno is now stable and returned home on Friday. As you can imagine, everyone at the club is delighted that Bruno is home and on the road to recovery.

“While this is great news, there is still a difficult time ahead for Bruno while he recovers fully, and his teammates and the entire club will be supporting him every step of the way.

“It may be a cliche but Bruno is genuinely one of the nicest people you could meet, and became a valuable member of the squad both on and off the pitch from the moment he joined us this summer.

“We would also like to thank all the clubs and members of the football family that have sent their support to Bruno and contributed to the fundraising page. While we are rivals most of the time, it is on occasions like this that this special community comes into its own!”
