Teenagers arrested following fire at Wythenshawe primary school

Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of arson in Wythenshawe.

On Friday 5 June 2015, police were called to The Willows Primary School on Tayfield Road, to a report that a wooden playhouse was on fire.

Fire services were called to extinguish the blaze and there were no injuries.

Two boys aged, 13 and 14 have been arrested on suspicion of arson.

Inspector Luke Breakspear of South Manchester division said: “The playhouse was destroyed and I’m saddened at the news of the damage caused. I know this will resonate through the community as this is mindless damage and I’d like to reassure people that we are taking this seriously.

“I would also like to ask our community to please refrain from speculating about who is responsible on social media. If you have any information that may help our investigation, please contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 4882 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
