Man in court over Wythenshawe robbery

A man has  appeared in court, charged in connection with the robbery of a woman in her 70s in Wythenshawe.

Daniel Kavanagh, aged 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of robbery and appeared at Manchester Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

At around 6.45pm on Friday 22 March 2019, police were called to reports that a woman in her 70s had been robbed while she was walking along Burnsall Walk, Wythenshawe.

Teenagers arrested following Wythenshawe burglaries

Two teenagers have been arrested following a spate of nine burglaries in Wythenshawe over the weekend.

Man jailed for stabbing wife in campaign of abuse

A man who stabbed his former wife after subjecting her to a campaign of abuse has been jailed for 21 years.

Farhad Abdullah, aged 54, of no fixed address stole his former partner’s dog and assaulted her in the street because of how she was dressed before stabbing her with an ornamental dagger in Wythensawe in June 2018.

Today at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square he was sentenced to 21 years in prison after previously being found guilty of attempted murder.

He will be required to serve a further five years on licence after being released.

Police recover knives and stun gun in cannabis farm raid

14713600_1358214874218957_3712206343258111639_nPolice have made an arrest and recovered knives and weapons following a raid on a cannabis farm in Wythenshawe this week

Officers from Local Neighbourhood Policing Team and Intelligence found the cannabis farm along with class A and B drugs at the address in Baguley on Thursday.

A Taser/stun device was found at the property along with some knives.

Top cop calls on parents to help tackle knife crime

Greater Manchester Police’s Assistant Chief Constable has called on parents to have conversations with their children about the dangers of carrying knives in the wake of a stabbing in which a teenager lost his life at the weekend.

17-year-old Yousef Ghaleb Makki from Burnage was stabbed on Saturday evening at Gorse Bank Road in Hale Barns.

And in Wythenshawe a man was stabbed in Thornsgreen Road, near Manchester Airport, last month. In January a A 27-year-old was taken to hospital with a ‘serious’ shoulder injury following a stabbing on Woodhouse Lane.
