Two teenagers have been arrested following a spate of nine burglaries in Wythenshawe over the weekend.

It was honours even for Wythenshawe Town today when they visited Vauxhall Motors and Amateurs suffered an away defeat to Stone Old Alleynians.

Six minutes of injury time was Town’s undoing as they led 1-0 until an unfortunate own goal in the dying minutes of the game.

Stone led from a penalty in the first before extending their lead and Amateurs snatched one back. Despite some valiant efforts including an attempt which struck the woodwork, Stone managed to hold on to their lead to take the points.

Man jailed for stabbing wife in campaign of abuse

A man who stabbed his former wife after subjecting her to a campaign of abuse has been jailed for 21 years.

Farhad Abdullah, aged 54, of no fixed address stole his former partner’s dog and assaulted her in the street because of how she was dressed before stabbing her with an ornamental dagger in Wythensawe in June 2018.

Today at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square he was sentenced to 21 years in prison after previously being found guilty of attempted murder.

He will be required to serve a further five years on licence after being released.

More than 2,000 in Wythenshawe and Sale East back “cancel Brexit” petition

petitionMore than 2,000 people in Wythenshawe and Sale East have signed a petition calling for Brexit to be cancelled.

The online petition had attracted 2.6 million supporters from across the UK at 9am this morning and will be considered for debate in parliament.

Wythenshawe MP expresses solidarity with victims of Christchurch terrorist attacks

Wythenshawe MP Mike Kane has expressed solidarity with the victims of Friday’s massacre at two New Zealand mosques.

Forty-nine people were killed and 48 wounded in the shootings at mosques during Friday prayers, in Christchurch, New Zealand, in the deadliest attack in the country’s history.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern called it one of New Zealand’s “darkest days”.
