Police investigate claims Mario Balotelli threatened his mum’s Wythenshawe neighbours

Police are investigating claims that former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli threatened Wythenshawe residents when he visited his mum.

It is alleged the Italian footballer threatened his mum’s neighbours for taking pictures of his Ferrari.

The  incident happened on Pewsey Road, Peel Hall on Thursday,  while Balotelli was visiting his mum,  Rose.

A neighbour told the Manchester Evening News Balotelli launched a tirade at her after other residents came out to take pictures of the £250,000 car.

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating a report of threatening behaviour. Officers will be speaking to all concerned in due course.” 

Man in court after guns are recovered from house in Newall Green, Wythenshawe

A man has been charged after guns, ammunition and drugs were recovered from a house in Newall Green, Wythenshawe.

Police raided a house on Birdlip Drive, Newall Green, Wythenshawe, at about 8am on Saturday 18 October 2014.

Cocaine, a 9mm pistol, a sawn-off shotgun and a semi-automatic handgun were recovered.

Anthony Abbott, aged 33, of Birdlip Drive has been charged with possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession with intent to supply cocaine.

He was due to appear at Manchester magistrates’ court this morning, Monday 20 October 2014.

Police investigate reports of shots fired at a house in Benchill, Wythenshawe

Police are investigating reports of shots being fired in Benchill, Wythenshawe.

Shots were reported at around 8.50pm on Wednesday 15 October 2014 at a house on Benchill Drive, Wythenshawe.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers went to the scene and an investigation is now underway. There are no reports of any injuries.

“A number of officers are now in the area to reassure local residents. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101.”

A talented young business brain from Northern Moor in Wythenshawe has won a nationwide competition – scooping a cool £10,000 to help start up his new enterprise.

Aaron Darke beat hundreds of contestants from across the UK to triumph at the final of TestTown, with his fledgling alternative brewing company – Zymurgorium.

Man appears in court charged with Wythenshawe sex assaults

A man has been charged after two sexual assaults in Wythenshawe.

Andrew Rylett, aged 51, of Warrington Road, Runcorn, Cheshire has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 11 October 2014. Continue reading “Man appears in court charged with Wythenshawe sex assaults”
