Man appears in court charged with Wythenshawe sex assaults

A man has been charged after two sexual assaults in Wythenshawe.

Andrew Rylett, aged 51, of Warrington Road, Runcorn, Cheshire has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and appeared before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on 11 October 2014.
On 19 September 2014, a man dressed in a high-visibility jacket and wearing an identity badge knocked on an address in Northenden and offered to tarmac the occupant’s driveway.

When the woman said no, the man tried to talk his way into the property before sexually assaulting her.

The second offence happened on 29 September 2014 when a man knocked on an address in Brooklands and offered to clean the householder’s driveway. The man made comments to the female victim before he assaulted her.

Detective Inspector John Harris said: “Following a public appeal, we received numerous calls from the public with information which has led to us making an arrest and charging a man.

“I would like to say a big thank you to those members of the public who came forward – your help in this investigation is much appreciated.”
