Wythenshawe Town 4 – 1 Salford Victoria Reserves
Wythenshawe Town will face Irlam in the quarter finals of the Manchester FA Amateur Cup after beating Salford Victoria Reserves in the last 16.
Wythenshawe started quickly opening the scoring early through a set-piece, the free-kick was passed through to Dean McGregor who crossed it low into the box and Paul Walley scored on the half volley to put Wythenshawe ahead after just one minute.
The game was a very tight affair with both teams struggling to get shots away. It was Salford Vics who took their chance as they equalised after 22 minutes through some sloppy defending to put them level. But not long later Wythenshawe had a penalty on 29 minutes where Ben Brooks calmly dispatched the penalty.
Wythenshawe seemed to take control of the game in the second half and their attacking efforts were rewarded with another penalty on 60 minutes and again Ben Brooks placed it home to give the hosts a firm foothold of the match. Just 8 minutes later Wythenshawe finished the game off as Remi Williams with a strong header to confirm their place in the quarter-finals.
