An Ericstan Park crowd saw their team put five past the visitors, with a brace from Remi Williams and and goals from Dean McGregor, Ben Connolly and Ben Brooks, on a sunny afternoon in Wythenshawe.
Williams opened the scoring following some great work by Brooks on the right who pulled it back for the striker to fire in a low shot.
The home team dominated with McGregor doubling the lead before Williams struck again to take them into half time with a three goal advantage.
Town maintained their pressure forcing a good save from the Kartel keeper shortly after the interval and then Connolly made it four, firing low across the keeper into the far corner.
The fifth came courtesy of a penalty resulting from a hand-ball on the line. Paul Whalley’s header hit the bar rebounded down to strike the defender’s arm. Brooks stepped up for the penalty to put the tie beyond doubt.
