Having already secured the Cheshire League 2 title on Wednesday by defeating Irlam Reserves you would be forgiven for thinking Wythenshawe could take their foot off the pedal for their home encounter with Woodford.
Not a bit of it. The Ericstan Park side were determined to keep their 100 per cent record and didn’t disappoint fans with a strong performance in what was a tight affair against Woodford.
The visitors did their best to frustrate the home side, but nothing was going to spoil Wythenshawe’s party.
It was another good day for Ben Brooks, whose brace separated the two sides – his 38th and 39th goals of the season in just 27 appearances.
The team lifted the trophy to the delight of home fans, but vowed to carry their form into three more competitions in which they are still in contention.
Great to get the first trophy of the season under our belt but we are not celebrating to hard we still have a lot to do
