FOOTBALL: Town crowned champions – just three more trophies to go!

Wythenshawe Town 2 – 0 Woodford

Wythenshawe Town were crowned champions in front of their fans at Ericstan Park after after another impressive victory.

Having already secured the Cheshire League 2 title on Wednesday by defeating Irlam Reserves you would be forgiven for thinking Wythenshawe could take their foot off the pedal for their home encounter with Woodford.

Not a bit of it. The Ericstan Park side were determined to keep their 100 per cent record and didn’t disappoint fans with a strong performance in what was a tight affair against Woodford.

The visitors did their best to frustrate the home side, but nothing was going to spoil Wythenshawe’s party.

It was another good day for Ben Brooks, whose brace separated the two sides – his  38th and 39th goals of the season in just 27 appearances.

The team lifted the trophy to the delight of home fans, but vowed to carry their form into three more competitions in which they are still in contention.

The club are in the  final of the Saturday Amateur Cup Final against Failsworth Dynamos on May 5th and they are also in cup action on Wednesday against Congleton Vale.
