Police probe bogus charity collections in Northern Moor

The incidents happened shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday,  June 7 police received two reports of thefts at homes in Fellpark Road.fellparkrd

A man knocked on two residents’ doors claiming to be collecting money for charity.

The offender followed the victims into their home where they both gave him a small amount of money.

After one of his visits, an elderly woman noticed £20 was missing from her table.

Officer would like to speak to the man pictured to help them with their enquiries.

PC Kate Brookes, from GMP’s City of Manchester team, said: “I would urge anyone who recognises the man pictured or has any information about the theft to please call police.

“I would also like to remind residents, particularly those who are vulnerable, to use a door chain when answering the door to unknown people and always ask for identification.”
