Police urge residents to light up their homes to keep burglars in the dark

Photo 1Greater Manchester Police  is urging residents to light up their homes and keep burglars well and truly out in the dark this winter.

The clocks go back on Sunday 28th October 2018 which marks the start of darker nights for neighbourhoods up and down the country.

Wythenshawe family held at gunpoint in robbery ordeal

2643922800_962838c834_zA 14-year-old girl was threatened with a gun and a man attacked with an axe during a robbery at their family home in Wythenshawe.

The ordeal happened on Tuesday night (October 16th) at around 9.30pm when thieves – armed with what was thought to be a gun and an axe –  forced their way through the front door of the house on Goldie Avenue in the Peel Hall area.

Police appeal to trace wanted man over assault in Wythenshawe

Michael LabinjoPolice are hunting a man wanted in connection with a series of burglaries and an assault on a woman in Wythenshawe. 

Michael Labinjo, aged 28, has been wanted since March 2018 but despite extensive attempts to arrest him, officers have been unable to locate him so far.

He is also wanted in connection with an assault on a woman in Wythenshawe earlier this month.

Labinjo knows officers are searching for him and is actively avoiding arrest.

He has no known fixed address but there have been sightings of him over the past few days in the Wythenshawe area.

Anyone who sees Michael Labinjo, or has any information about his whereabouts, should call police on 0161 856 6076.

Wythenshawe man appears in court charged with city centre rape

14713600_1358214874218957_3712206343258111639_nA Wythenshawe man has been charged after a woman was raped and a man was robbed in Manchester city centre. 

Peter Timmins, aged 28, of Padworth Walk in Wythenshawe has been charged with two counts of rape and an attempted robbery on a woman. He was further charged with one count of robbery against a man.

He appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court and has been remanded in custody to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square on Monday 5 November 2018.

At around 3.15am on Sunday 7 October police received a report that a man had been robbed on a walkway off Travis Street.

Around 30 minutes later police received a further report that a woman was raped earlier in the same walkway.

An investigation was launched immediately.
