91-year-old woman threatened in Newall Green burglary

2643922800_962838c834_z-e1539845490898793143050513031791.jpgPolice are appealing for witnesses to a burglary in Newall Green in which a 91-year-old woman was threatened. 

The burglar broke into a house on Shawbury Road at around 7.45pm on Sunday 24 March 2019 and threatened the homeowner.

The man fled on foot with two other men who had waited outside the property.

The woman’s handbag was stolen which contained personal items and a quantity of cash.

The offender is described as white, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and of very slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top.

The woman wasn’t injured but she has been left very shaken by the incident.

Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch.

Police urge residents to light up their homes to keep burglars in the dark

Photo 1Greater Manchester Police  is urging residents to light up their homes and keep burglars well and truly out in the dark this winter.

The clocks go back on Sunday 28th October 2018 which marks the start of darker nights for neighbourhoods up and down the country.

Police appeal to trace wanted man over assault in Wythenshawe

Michael LabinjoPolice are hunting a man wanted in connection with a series of burglaries and an assault on a woman in Wythenshawe. 

Michael Labinjo, aged 28, has been wanted since March 2018 but despite extensive attempts to arrest him, officers have been unable to locate him so far.

He is also wanted in connection with an assault on a woman in Wythenshawe earlier this month.

Labinjo knows officers are searching for him and is actively avoiding arrest.

He has no known fixed address but there have been sightings of him over the past few days in the Wythenshawe area.

Anyone who sees Michael Labinjo, or has any information about his whereabouts, should call police on 0161 856 6076.

Baguley family distraught as they may be forced to cancel holiday after burglary

A family may be forced to cancel their holiday after burglars stole their passports and £33,000 worth of valuables.

Burglars broke into a house on Partridge Avenue, Baguley, on Monday afternoon by forcing open the front door and tore the house apart looking for valuables, stealing a large amount of cash, jewellery and electronic equipment totalling nearly £33,000.

They also stole eight British passports, meaning that the family may be forced to cancel a forthcoming trip abroad.

The thieves stole two digital cameras, four laptops, five watches, Asian jewellery worth almost £15,000 and more than £6,500 of cash.

The family had already been subjected to an attempted burglary late last year, when the offenders tried to enter the house via a set of ladders but were disturbed before they could gain entry.

Detective Constable Catherine Campbell said: “The family are understandably distraught by this theft.

“Not only have they lost treasured family heirlooms but also their passports meaning they may have to cancel their family holiday.

“We unfortunately do not have any descriptions of the person or people responsible, but are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area on Monday afternoon to contact police as a matter of urgency.”

Burglars smash windows in Benchill break-in

Burglars broke into a house in Newhey Road, Benchill yesterday.

Police say the burglars  smashed kitchen door and conservatory window when the offenders broke into the house between 10am- noon on Friday November 1.
