Seven people have been arrested following raids in Wythenshawe and Wilmslow in a police crackdown on robberies and burglaries.

Drugs, ammunition and suspected stolen goods were recovered following the raids on Thursday September 19 2013.

Four men aged between 19 and 41 were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and theft. Two of them have also been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to supply class B drugs.

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary and theft and a 21-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs.

Another woman, 38, was arrested for a public order offence.

All remain in police custody.

Detective Inspector Paul Parker said: “We launched Operation Pavel following a spate of robberies, burglaries and vehicle crime that went from Wythenshawe, Cheadle and Hale to as far afield as Wilmslow in Cheshire.

“Today, a large-scale operation has been in place and we have also worked closely with our colleagues at Cheshire Police.

“We believe that these offences are linked to organised criminality and we are committed to tackling organised crime groups.

“We know that the answers to tackling organised crime lie in the communities where these people operate, so we are asking residents to take a stand with us and together we can bring about real change.

“These are your communities. If you tell us what action needs taking, then through your local police officers and the local authority, we will take it and together we will dismantle criminal networks.”
