Wythenshawe man hit across head with gun in robbery

Wythenshawe police are hunting two youths who hit  65-year-old man across the head with a pistol during an attempted robbery.

At 2.20pm on Friday 4 October 2013, the victim was walking to his car that was parked on Brundage Road when he was approached by two men, one on a pedal bike.

One of the offenders threatened the man and demanded his wallet.  He refused and pushed him away before getting into his car.

The second man grabbed the pistol and threatened him again before smashing one of the car windows.   The victim was then struck across the head with the pistol before both men left empty handed.

The first is described as being white, in his late teens, 5ft 8in tall, of solid build and spoke with a local accent.  He wore a dark blue or black hooded top, dark scarf covering his mouth, gloves and rode a small dark bike.

The second man was white, looked older than the first person, of slight build and around 5ft 8in tall.  He wore a black hooded top, black scarf that covered his mouth and gloves.

Detective Inspector Paul Parker from Wythenshawe police said: “The victim was continuously threatened and when he was brave enough to refuse, he was struck across the head.  Fortunately, he only suffered minor head injuries and has recovered.

“It is likely that the offenders were local and we believe the area would have been busy due to the time of day the crime took place.  I would ask anyone who may have seen the attack or saw the pair running away to contact us.”
