Two brothers attacked in Northenden by gang

Officers are appealing for information following an assault in Wythenshawe in the early hours of Saturday.

At around 1:15am on Saturday 23 February 2018, two brothers, both aged in their 30s, and a 33-year-old woman were stood on Church Road, Northenden, when a large group of youths across the road started shouting abuse at the woman.

When one of the men challenged the youths, the group made their way over and assaulted the brothers, knocking them both to the ground.

They continued their assault as the two lay on the floor before fleeing the scene in the direction of Chapel Road.

Both men suffered facial injuries which required hospital treatment, with the one who initially challenged the youths being more seriously injured. He remains in hospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place close to the junction with Palatine Road.
