North west football clubs swoop for Wythenshawe teenagers

???????????????????????????????Youngsters at a Wythenshawe school could be on their way to being the next Wayne Rooney after they were snapped up by clubs across the North West.

The boys, aged 15 and 16 from Saint Paul’s Catholic High School in Wythenshawe have been signed up for the junior teams of professional clubs –Manchester United, Bolton Wanderers, Rochdale and Blackburn Rovers.

The boys were snapped up by the clubs after selection trials:  Vischo Dick by Manchester United, Enock Elummba by Bolton, Tyler Berry by Rochdale and Ryan Nyambe by Blackburn Rovers.

Whilst the contracts offer some wonderful opportunities for the boys, they also require a great deal of commitment, with several training sessions each week including endurance sessions, strength enhancement through gym training and a focus on improving technical skills.

“Whilst playing for these clubs, we have noticed the boys becoming more and more skilful and confident,” said Mr Mike Whiteside, Assistant Headteacher at Saint Paul’s. “They are continually improving their already strong performance whilst growing in mental and physical strength.”

“We have worked hard to create effective links between the school and the clubs,” continued Mr Whiteside.  “We feel that this is encouraging our pupils to adopt healthier lifestyles, enjoy their sport in a supportive environment and hopefully going on to achieve sporting success.”

Speaking about their achievement, Mr Wiktor Daron, Head Teacher at Saint Paul’s, was quick to praise the boys: “The school is very proud of these boys. Football is extremely popular at Saint Paul’s, the pupils have a real passion for the game. These four boys in particular show incredible skill and overwhelming energy when playing football.”
