Wythenshawe Town have finished their season in style having won every game in all competitions to win regional and national plaudits in the Manchester Evening News and the Daily Mirror, and earn the title of “Wythenshawe Invincibles.”

And it was that man, Ben Brooks who was the star of the show again today, scoring five goals in Sheareresque fashion in a 7-1 demolition of  Moore United.

Wythenshawe is not only Cheshire League Division 2 champions and the winner of three cups, they are also top of the league table of none league clubs thanks to their incredible record.

The club has won the Manchester FA Amateur Cup, the JA Walton Challenge Cup and the Altrincham FA Senior Cup and are already planning the next stage of their strategy to become Wythenshawe’s first ever semi-professional club.

It was Remmi Williams who opened the scoring today  and it looked as though it might be a close affair as the Warrington-based opponents equalised from the spot. But the rout began with Brook’s first goal of the day followed by a penalty just before half time, put away by Jason Walley.

And in the second half it was the Ben Brooks show. The Wythenshawe wizard scored another four, bringing his total for the day to five and and his tally for the season up to an amazing 51 – just two short of Lionel Messi.

Players and manager Lee McGregor will no doubt be partying tonight and will enjoy a well-earned rest before they plan for their campaign in Cheshire League 1 with a number of pre- season friendlies in the summer.
