Pupils from Saint Paul’s Catholic High School in Wythenshawe enjoyed a brilliant production of Danny the Champion of the World presented by the London Contemporary Theatre at Preston Guild Hall.
The pupils were able to follow the journey of a young English boy, Danny, and his father William – the most exciting Dad a boy has ever had. The pair live in a caravan fixing cars for a living. His Dad has a secret hobby though of partaking in poaching pheasants.
When Hazell, a local developer, wants to take over the land their garage is on trouble ensues but Danny rises to the occasion, and him and his Dad come up with a most exciting plan. This will help make him become Danny the Champion of the World.
“The pupils really enjoyed the play which was based on Roald Dahl’s famous book,” said Ms Laura Huddleston from Saint Paul’s. “The script was fantastic and the acting was superb. The pupils have been talking about it ever since.”
“Danny the Champion of the World is one of Roald Dahl’s best loved books and the children were really looking forward to seeing it on stage and it certainly lived up to their high expectations, “commented Mrs Fiona Minshall, Head Teacher at Saint Paul’s. “The production was amazing bringing the book to life and firing the pupils’ imaginations.”
