Police hunt three men after robbery at shop in Northern Moor

Three men got away with cash, cigarettes and scratch cards after robbing a shop in Northern Moor early this morning (March 2).

The robbers struck at the One Stop Shop on Moorcroft Road, Northern Moor, Wythenshawe between 6.40 and 6.45 am. No-one is believed to have been hurt. Police cordoned off the shop this morning and enquiries are continuing.

There are descriptions of two of the offenders. One was white wearing a dark face covering, a black jacket over a black hooded top with black drawstrings. He was also wearing black tracksuit bottoms/jeans, black trainers with white soles and a white logo.

The other man was white, wearing a black face covering, a dark blue/grey padded coat with black bottoms and black trainers. He was carrying a rucksack that was black at the top and dark grey at the bottom.

Wythenshawe police: teenager takes ill after buying drugs from fellow pupil

Wythenshawe police  are urging parents to warn their children about the dangers of drugs  following an incident in which a 13-year-old girl fell ill after taking a tablet believed to be MDMA.

It is believed the girl bought a tablet  – probably MDMA – from a fellow pupil and fell ill on Wednesday 25 February 2015, but suffered no serious or lasting ill-effects.

Wythenshawe man jailed for supplying guns and ammunition kept at his Sharston home

Stuart MannersA man has been jailed for 12 years after police found guns and ammunition in his Sharston home.

Stuart Manners, aged 46, of Bronington Close, Sharston, Wythenshawe pleaded guilty conspiracy to supply firearms and ammunition and was sentenced, together with two other men at Manchester Crown Court.

Police raided Manners’ home in Bronington Close, Sharston where they found a Taurus Millennium self-loading Pistol containing one 9mm round along with a mini torch which was converted into a firearm, one round of ammunition, a number of shooting targets, 79 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a mobile phone ‘stun gun’, knuckle duster, carbon knives and two empty firearm magazines. When Manners’ car was searched a second torch which had been converted into a firearm was also recovered.

Baguley family distraught as they may be forced to cancel holiday after burglary

A family may be forced to cancel their holiday after burglars stole their passports and £33,000 worth of valuables.

Burglars broke into a house on Partridge Avenue, Baguley, on Monday afternoon by forcing open the front door and tore the house apart looking for valuables, stealing a large amount of cash, jewellery and electronic equipment totalling nearly £33,000.

They also stole eight British passports, meaning that the family may be forced to cancel a forthcoming trip abroad.

The thieves stole two digital cameras, four laptops, five watches, Asian jewellery worth almost £15,000 and more than £6,500 of cash.

The family had already been subjected to an attempted burglary late last year, when the offenders tried to enter the house via a set of ladders but were disturbed before they could gain entry.

Detective Constable Catherine Campbell said: “The family are understandably distraught by this theft.

“Not only have they lost treasured family heirlooms but also their passports meaning they may have to cancel their family holiday.

“We unfortunately do not have any descriptions of the person or people responsible, but are appealing for anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area on Monday afternoon to contact police as a matter of urgency.”
