Man arrested following report of distraction burglary is released

A 25-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of burglary after an elderly man was talked into handing over his bank details in Northern Moor, has been released under investigation.

Shortly before 6pm on Monday 27 August 2018, police received a report that a man had been encouraged to hand of over his bank details by two men who visited his property.

When did you last see your snake?

Pensioner John Stone got a shock yesterday when he arrived home in Northern Moor to find a four foot long exotic snake on his drive.

Mr Stone, spotted the red, yellow and black reptile on Friday afternoon at Brent Close, Northern Moor, on Friday afternoon.

It is believed to have escaped from a neighbour’s home.

Mr Stone told the Manchester Evening News:I have been in some funny places, but never expected to see a snake in my driveway. What next?
Sgt Jon Kenna, from the Wythenshawe police team said: “The snake was located on Brent Close, Northern Moor, in the garden of a resident. They managed to trap the snake with their washing up bowl.”

Police are now trying to reunite the slippery customer with its owner and anyone with information should ring 101 quoting reference 1276 17/08/18.

Wythenshawe man in court following death outside Stockport club

A Wythenshawe man is due in court today, charged with murder following the death of a man outside a club in Stockport.

Nathan Marshall, aged 30, from Brinnington died after a car was is collision with people outside the Salisbury Club on Sunday night.

Jonathan William Snape of Yew Tree Lane has been charged with murder,attempted murder, affray, assault, and dangerous driving.

Paying tribute to Mr Marshall, his family said: “Nathan was our much loved son. He was kind and loving and a wonderful friend to the many people who knew and cared about him.

“Nathan was our first born. He lit up the room when he was alive. Living without him will be the hardest thing we will do as a family and we are devastated by our loss.

“We would like to ask you to respect our family’s privacy at this time. “

Woman jailed for four and half years for manslaughter of Wythenshawe man

A woman has been jailed after the death of a man in Wythenshawe.

Michelle Ingham, aged 47, of Maismore Road, Wythenshawe has been jailed after pleading guilty to manslaughter.

Around 1pm on Thursday 24 August 2017, a woman arrived in a taxi at Maismore Road to visit her friend but was immediately approached by Michelle Ingham who told her that her boyfriend was dead.

The woman rang for an ambulance and made her way to the flat where 47-year-old Kai Prothero was laying in the bedroom, unresponsive.

Under the guidance of the call taker, the woman performed CPR and a short time later, a paramedic attended to find blood and smashed crockery in the hallway.

He made his way to the bedroom where there were clear signs of a disturbance and blood on Kai’s face.

He was pronounced dead shortly before 1.10pm and a post-mortem examination revealed Kai’s death was a result of numerous stab wounds.

Ingham was arrested at the scene and has remained in custody ever since.

She has now been jailed for 4 years and 6 months.

Senior Investigating Officer Duncan Thorpe of GMP’s Major Incident Support Unit, said: “Losing a loved one in these circumstances is devastating and something no family should have to go through.

“My thoughts are with Kai’s family today, as they have been since the start of the investigation.

“My hope is that today will give them some comfort, knowing the person responsible for taking Kai’s life is in prison.”

Appeal for witnesses after scooter rider is left seriously hurt in crash

Police are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Wythenshawe which left a man seriously injured.

The crash happened at 12.20pm on Thursday 15, when a silver Skoda Rapide and a silver Honda NES scooter were in collision on Walney Road at the junction with Woodhouse Lane.

The Honda scooter was travelling along Nearbrook Road as the Skoda Rapide travelled along Woodhouse lane before they collided at the crossroads.

The 29-year-old man riding the Honda scooter was taken to hospital where he is currently being treated for a facial fractures and other serious injuries.

The driver of the Skoda remained at the scene to speak with officers.

No arrests have been made.

Police Constable Philip Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man as he receives treatment in hospital and I would urge anyone who witnessed this collision to please get in touch.

“Road closures were in place for over five hours while investigation work was carried out and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision remain ongoing.
