It could have been a scene from classic sitcom Only Fools and Horses, on Friday when a man was arrested for drink diving dressed as a Roman centurion.
The incident kept cops amused when they charged the driver caught in his latter-day chariot on Portway, Wythenshawe.

The incident will remind some classic comedy fans of scenes from Only Fools and Horses. In one episode, hapless Rodney Trotter is caught indulging wife Cassandra’s fantasy dressing as Russel Crowe from Gladiator. And in another classic moment, Rodney and wheeler-dealer Del Boy run through the streets of Peckham as Batman and Robin.
