Car smashes into tree after high speed chase by Wythenshawe police

crashPolice detained two young men after pursuing a car which had been racing down Wendover Road near a primary school in  Wythenshawe, before crashing into a tree.

A number of cars, assisted by the police helicopter, chased the VW Tiguan as it sped along streets in Brooklands, just a few hundred yards away from Sandilands Primary School at about 2pm.

The car smashed into the tree and five men ran out. Two of them were caught by police.

A witness said the car had been driven along Wendover Road, screeching tyres and screeching round corners. The witness said: “It’s terrible. What if it had been a little bit later with all the children coming out of school. It doesn’t bear thinking about.”

Police hunt Wythenshawe man involved in jewellery robbery

NICOLOGANPolice are hunting a Wythenshawe man involved in a jewellery robbery on a woman in her own home.

Nico Logan (pictured), aged 20, was jailed in 2009 for his part in the robbery during which a woman was punched and had her jewellery stolen.

Logan was released on licence with conditions but has since breached those conditions by failing to comply with Probation Service appointments, and has been recalled to prison.

He knows he is wanted but has not surrendered himself to police.

Anyone who knows of his whereabouts should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Teenager arrested in connection with sexual assault in Wythenshawe is released on police bail

A 19-year-old arrested on suspicion of a sexual assault in Wythenshawe has been released by police.

Police released the teenager on bail while they continue to investigate reports of a sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl shortly after 11.20pm on Wednesday 24 October 2013 on Wythenshawe Road. Police appeal for help to trace missing boy with links to Wythenshawe

A 10-year-old boy with connections to the south Manchester and Stockport has gone missing alone from a care home.

SF 2Shaequan Farquarson (pictured) was last seen running away from the care home in Haslingden, Lancashire at 12.15pm on Saturday 30 March.
