Police say they are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of a 10-year-old boy missing from a care home for more than two days.

Shaequan Farquarson,  who has connections in the Wythenshawe area, was last seen running away from the care home in Lancashire on Saturday.

Police say his family are “extremely distressed” and are currently being supported by officers.

He is known to have friends in the south Manchester and Stockport areas of Manchester and may have tried to either contact friends or make his way to these areas.  On previous occasions he has been reported missing he has been found in the Wythenshawe or Old Moat areas of Withington.

Shequan has been missing before and often approaches members of the public to ask for money or to use a mobile phone to call friends.

He is described as black, 4ft 10in tall and his hair is in cornrows.

He has a Manchester accent and was to be wearing a black woollen hat with OBEY written in white letters on the front, a blue puffa jacket, blue jogging pants and black Converse trainers.

Superintendent Sarah Jones said: “While Shaequan has been missing several times before, it is now been more than 48 hours since he was seen or heard from. Although he has street smarts, he is still a 10-year-old boy and with every hour that passes concern for his welfare grows.

“We are offering support to his family who are obviously extremely distressed and want to see Shaequan safe and well.

“I would therefore ask people to look at the picture we have issued carefully and although he now has a different hairstyle, he is very recognisable, so if you are approached by this boy asking for money, or you are one of his friends and he calls you then we need to hear from you straightaway.

“The weather remains extremely cold and we do not want Shaequan to become lost and disorientated and then become distressed in such adverse conditions so if you do see him, or recognise him, then please call police on 101 immediately.”
