JA Walton Challenge Cup Final
Lostock Gralam 2-5 Wythenshawe Town
Wythenshawe Town are currently the most successful non-league club in the UK after winning their fourth trophy of the season and maintaining a stunning 100 per cent record in all competitions.
The Cheshire League 2 champions won their JA Walton Challenge Cup final in impressive style with a 5-2 victory against Lostock, having won the Amateur Cup just a few days earlier against Failsworth Dynamos.
Ben Brooks featured heavily again in the club’s latest triumph, opening the scoring and setting up the second goal, slotted in by Remi Williams.
A well drilled Lostock pulled a goal back, but Town were able to extend their lead before half time followed a confused goalmouth scramble.
Brooks struck again in the second half before Lostock kept in touching distance with another goal. But there was to be no spoiling the party as Wythenshawe made sure of their victory with a fifth goal.
And despite this incredible achievement, Wythenshawe’s season is far from over as they attempt to secure victory in their last two league games to earn the title of the “invincibles” and win every game in all competitions.
Wythenshawe are currently top of the national table of non-league sides with the best record in the country, leading on goal difference over just two other clubs with a 100 per cent record.
There was a call for Gary Lineker to mention about their Wythenshawe’s success on Match of the Day. They didn’t get it. But who can deny they deserve it if they clinch victories in their last two games?
@GaryLineker how about a shout out, Wythenshawe town fc have just won ⁴ cups & are currently unbeaten, best record in the uk! @Wtfcopenage
