Police investigate reports of shots fired at a house in Benchill, Wythenshawe

Police are investigating reports of shots being fired in Benchill, Wythenshawe.

Shots were reported at around 8.50pm on Wednesday 15 October 2014 at a house on Benchill Drive, Wythenshawe.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers went to the scene and an investigation is now underway. There are no reports of any injuries.

“A number of officers are now in the area to reassure local residents. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101.”

Man appears in court charged with Wythenshawe sex assaults

A man has been charged after two sexual assaults in Wythenshawe.

Wythenshawe union man warns of further NHS strikes unless health workers get their pay rise

20141013_090315NHS workers at Wythenshawe Hospital joined thousands across the country in a four hour strike over pay.

Wythenshawe man aged 88 jailed for child sex abuse

guilty - jarvisAn 88-year-old Wythenshawe man will today begin a 20 year prison sentence after he was convicted of historic child sexual abuse. 

John Jarvisof Woodham Road, Wythenshawe, was found guilty after an eight day trial of three indecent assaults, two rapes and three offences of buggery.

Wythenshawe youngsters display creative talents as they delve into First World War history for new exhibition

An exhibition of the work of talented Wythenshawe youngsters to commemorate the First World War and the poetry of Wilfred Owen is being launched at Central Library by the Lord Mayor of Manchester.

The exhibition consists of a moving collection of poetry, letters, art and animation produced by 15 young people aged 11-19 from Wythenshawe.

They took part in a project which was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Manchester City Council and delivered at the Wow Zone Learning Centre in Wythenshawe. Continue reading “Wythenshawe youngsters display creative talents as they delve into First World War history for new exhibition”
